Exotic Estates offers beautiful, inspected luxury Big Island luxury vacation rentals in Hualalai, Waikoloa, Puako, Mauna Lani, and in the Mauna Kea Resort. Many are located on championship golf courses and offer stunning ocean and fairway views. Take a moment to tour our complete collection of Big Island villas and estates today.

The Big Island of Hawaii is a unique island in what is arguably one of the world's most unique and beautiful island chains. It is the youngest Hawaiian island, and it continues to grow as new lava pouring from Kilauea Volcano meets the Pacific Ocean in a stunning natural spectacle.

The landscape of the Big Island is dreamy and otherworldly. Its mountains soar to incredible heights, so the landscape features several micro-climates, from balmy palm-fringed beaches to 13,796 ft. high peaks capped in tropical snow during the winter.

The average temperature year-round is over 80F°degrees (21C), and the island enjoys 350 days of sunshine, making it a welcoming destination any time of year.

Kohala Coast Rentals – Hualalai, Waikoloa, Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea Resort

Most Exotic Estates vacation homes are in the main resort areas north of Kona on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. Driving north on Hawaii 19, Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway, you will see turn-offs for the resort areas on your left, starting with Hualalai, then Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, and then Mauna Kea.

All of these areas feature beautiful hotels, beaches, and, of course, fabulous vacation villas ringing world-class golf courses.

Our family completely enjoyed the home and all the amenities the home and location had to offer.
The home exceeded our expectations , it was beautiful , very well appointed and well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen. We were there over Christmas and felt totally comfortable and relaxed. The pool and hot tub are large and very warm. The grounds are beautiful , enjoyed the hammock! The location next to the Fairmont Orchid was very convenient and the house was equipped with beach chairs, sand toys and snorkel equipment. We utilized the club for workouts as well. We will come again.

Greatest Family Vacation Spot
This was our dream vacation as we managed to get three families together in one place. Better than hotel living by far. We were together when we wanted to be but there were plenty of areas for solitude when needed. The kitchen was better equipped than at home. Beach towels enough for all as well as beach and pool toys. Access to the private beach was perfect when one child was only 15 months old, home for naps and then back to the beach in no time. The park common area behind the house was a very pleasant surprise. We were able to pick items from the vegetable/herb garden and the fruit trees. Fresh grapefruit juice every day. Tomatoes and basil for pasta and salads. We will definitely highly recommend this spot for multi-family gatherings.

Big Island Vacation Rental - FAQ

Answers to common questions about Big Island vacation rentals.
Where are Exotic Estates vacation homes located on the Big Island of Hawaii?

Exotic Estates represents luxury vacation rentals in the Big Island's Resorts along the Kohala or Kona Coast. There are homes in Kailua-Kona, at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, the Waikoloa Resort, the Mauna Lani Resort, and the Mauna Kea Resort.

What are the taxes and fees associated with Big Island vacation rentals?

The taxes associated with Big Island vacation rentals include: 1) a General Excise Tax of 4.712% and, 2) a Transient Accommodations Tax of 13.25%. In addition there will be a Departure Cleaning Fee, which vary in price depending on the size of the home; for longer stays, there are also Mid-Stay Cleaning fees. There may be other fees unique to each property, including propane and pool heating. Security deposits are generally handled with a credit card on file.

Are there extra charges for using resort services?

Yes. If a home is located within a resort community, you will be able to enjoy access to resort services for an additional fee. The fee can range from a per-person fee structure to one that covers the entire home. One of the great benefits of renting a home in the Mauna Kea Resort is access to resort services for a simple daily fee that varies based on the number of bedrooms in the home. This allows guests to enjoy access to two full-service beaches, pools, guest rates at the golf course and tennis, fitness center, and parking access at these locations.

Do I have to worry about volcano eruptions on the Big Island?

No. Unless you stay in the zone immediately around Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the southern flank of the island, you are not at risk of being impacted by volcanic activity. Kona and the resorts along the Kohala Coast are about 100 miles away from Kilauea Volcano. The most you will have to deal with is VOG, a sort of haze caused by eruption-related gases that can sometimes blow in. VOG can impact all islands. Rather, Kilauea Volcano and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park offer a rare opportunity to safely witness an incredible geological wonder and learn more about Native Hawaiian identity and traditions.
