Experience Tropical Elegance at The Lodge at Kaloko

Just up the hill from the breathtaking Manini'owali Beach and featured on Season 5 of Temptation Island, The Lodge at Kaloko offers a slice of paradise with ocean views and a prime location. Situated at the base of Mount Hualalai, this estate enjoys a desirable "comfort zone" elevation, always 10 degrees cooler than the shoreline, providing a refreshing escape.

The Lodge at Kaloko is a luxurious 5,000-square-foot estate on 3 acres, comfortably accommodating 15 guests across 5 well-appointed bedrooms and bathrooms. Ideal for large families or corporate retreats, the property features amenities for relaxation and entertainment. Unwind under the stars in the 16-person hot tub or by the outdoor fire pit, and enjoy the convenience of being just 10-15 minutes from the airport, beaches, Four Seasons Hualalai, and downtown Kona.

This private gated estate includes four primary suites, each with memory foam mattresses, private baths, and three living rooms with cozy Restoration Hardware Cloud couches. The chef's kitchen is a dream come true, equipped with a butler pantry, walk-in pantry, double oven, Smeg appliances, and every amenity you could wish for, including a double steam oven, air fryer, Instant Pot, Vitamix, and more. The indoor dining area features an oversized concrete Restoration Hardware table that seats nine, with an additional outdoor dining table and kitchen bar seating.

The estate also boasts a solar-heated 8-foot-deep swimming pool with Baja entry, a large grassy backyard for games, a gym with elliptical and weight equipment, and an outdoor pavilion perfect for game nights or simply enjoying the fresh air. The property provides chairs, umbrellas, snorkel equipment, boogie boards, a surfboard, beach bags, mats, and coolers for beach outings.

Entertainment options abound with seven large smart TVs, various movies and board games, an Xbox One with games, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The office area includes a stylish Restoration Hardware desk and a convenient printer. The property also has an alarm system for security and ample private parking.

Depending on the season, guests can enjoy fresh produce such as apple bananas, Kona coffee, Hawaiian chili peppers, lemongrass, oranges, and guava, as well as several native flowers, including hibiscus, gardenia, and hydrangeas. Wildlife enthusiasts will delight in the nearby donkeys, wild turkeys, parrots, cardinals, and Hawaiian hawks, with the enchanting sounds of tropical coqui frogs in the evening. The property borders a forest preserve, adding to the serene and private atmosphere.

Guests have full access to the entire home, with a private gated entry and ample parking. The Lodge at Kaloko is conveniently located near hiking trails, including the famous "Jurassic Trail," the Cloud Forest Sanctuary, and the Mountain Thunder Coffee Farm. It's also less than an hour to the Mauna Kea Visitor Station and two hours to Volcanoes National Park.

A rental car is recommended for exploring the island. Numerous Turo and Uber options are available, as well as traditional car rental companies at the airport. Some tours and attractions offer pick-up services, but a rental car provides the best flexibility for exploring the island. The host can also provide referrals for private tours and an airport shuttle if preferred.

Additional services include:

  • A full-service concierge.
  • Discounts on various activities.
  • Daily and mid-stay cleanings.

Hawaii residents must get approval from the host before booking. By booking with The Lodge at Kaloko, all guests agree to the house rules, which are based on guest count and must be adhered to.

The Lodge at Kaloko truly feels like a mountain lodge, reminiscent of Aspen, but located just minutes from some of the world's most beautiful beaches. Wake up surrounded by ancient Hawaiian trees and native birds in North America's only cloud forest and experience the perfect blend of luxury and natural beauty.

We loved this home. It is a large home perfect for big groups. It is well appointed with a large kitchen and bedrooms for all. The view from the hot tub is fantastic. We hope to come back soon.

House was beautiful and as described. Well stocked with everything our large group needed. Pool and hot tub (particularly when cloudy) enjoyed by everyone. Owner very responsive to our requests.

It is a beautiful and well-maintained home. The location radiates peace and relaxation. The accommodations were perfect for the 4 generations that stayed there (ranging from 8 months old to over 70 years old). The home met every need that could have been imagined for our entire family. There was enough common space for everyone to eat dinner together, a work out area for the die hard fitness fanatics, a comfy sofa to watch cartoons on, as well as a game room for the teenagers to hang out in and gossip. The game room was stocked with games and activities for all ages. The kitchen was well equipped and the Blackstone grill was an exceptional option for cooking outdoors. Both the host and the property manager were easy to work with and responsive to any inquiries we had.

Fantastic Experience. Stayed with my extended family and nothing but great things to say about this house. The host checked in with this regularly to make sure we didn’t need anything. The instruction book was so clear and helpful. We used the Jacuzzi and the fire pit throughout our stay. Both are easy to use and operate and so enjoyable. She recommended, local tourist attractions, restaurants, and other things to do. It just helped me the trip the perfect vacation spot for my family. In short, loved everything about this experience, and would totally do it again.

Our host went above and beyond to accommodate our short notice after we needed to find a new property immediately. Our gratitude is beyond words. She saved our family's, Kona Hawaii, trip which was made, due to a special family circumstance.
